Capturing Our Coast

This project helped volunteers join in with this large marine ‘citizen science’ project in the UK (2016-19).

The Thanet Coast Project is hosting training sessions with the ‘Capturing Our Coast’ project team, where volunteers can learn more about marine biology and then help with monitoring local marine wildlife on rocky shores in their own time and feed the results into the national database. The aim is to increase our understanding and identify the distribution of marine life around the UK – whilst also looking out for . This training was free with support from the Heritage Lottery Fund for 3 years from 2016.

There are some fabulous species packages to choose from, to monitor – from Banacle bonanza, High-shore highlights. Like it or Limpet, Absolutely Crabulous, Snail of a Time, Funky fucoids, Kelp Wanted, to Keep your friends close, anemones closer!
