WHAT TO DO IF – you find seal, porpoise/dolphin/whale or marine mammals on the beach?

If found stranded, injured or in distress on the beach, please call:
01825 765546 = British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) – for live marine life; or
0300 1234 999 = RSPCA – live/injured birds/animals

If the stranding is dead, please do not touch or try to move, report to the local authority. For Thanet:
01843 577672 = Thanet Coast Project/TDC
01843 577000 = Thanet District Council for ‘out of office hours’ (c/o Street Cleansing)

Note: Freshly dead strandings are then reported to the Cetaceans Strandings Investigation Programme (CSIP/ZSL) particularly when further examination is possible.

Local vets can help will also help with the emergency care of wild birds or animals, particularly where brought in to them.
